Travel To The Bahamas

10
The Bahamas is a magical place where you can lose yourself in it's beauty and have wasteful days gazing out into the spectacularly blue ocean. It is an archipelago that consist of about 200 islands. Officially named the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, the islands are located in the Atlantic ocean, and not in the Caribbean sea, contrary to popular belief. If you have been to the Bahamas once, you will crave to go back and miss it like you would miss a lost love.

Luckily, the official language spoken in the Bahamas is English, but the slang may confuse you slightly, and when you take into account how fast the locals speak, it may become quite confusing, but you should be able to communicate without any problems. The biggest even in the Bahamas is the Junkanoo festival which is held on December 26th and January 1st. On this festival you will see people rushing through the streets playing Junkanoo music, and they will be wearing some amazing costumes. You may feel at home if you are from Africa or South Africa, since the music is much like traditional african music, with the rhythm being oddly similar.

You may be spooked to find that the Bahamas sit on the verge of the bermuda triangle, not just out but rather just in, but fear not, since there have been many before you that have travelled there and returned home safely, and it truly is a marvelous experience. Adding to the lovely experience, the climate is tropical, much like Miami. If you are a wildlife lover you will feel at home, since you will find animals like horses, marvelous breeds of parrots and sharks and dolphins.

Watersports is abundant in the Bahamas and if you are a water sports lover, you should prepare yourself for being entertained every minute. If you are not a water sports lover, you should prepare to become one, since it is simply impossible to deny the fun of those sports once you see them as you do in the Bahamas.

You will find that the cuisine in the Bahamas is to die for, and as you would expect from an island, seafood is plentiful. If you like to party, you will be happy to find that beer, rum and other various kinds of hard liquor are quite easy to find since liquor stores are widespread. A note though - accommodation in the Bahamas is very expensive and you can expect to pay at least about R700 a night, since there are virtually no backpackers. So you will need to have enough money to pay for your stay and enjoy yourself. Luckily, you will find that the flights are relatively cheap compared to other destinations that are, in some cases, closer even. You can expect to pay about R20 000 for a return flight, which means that it will cost you R10 000 for the ticket to there and another R10 000 for the ticket back, from Cape Town, that is.

Go and have the once in a lifetime vacation that you deserve.
