Toddlers and Bedwetting Problems

13
Parents may feel frustrated after potty training their toddlers because they still have to deal with bedwetting problems.
Although smaller kids especially those who are three and below can be trained to control their bladders during day time, most of them are still not able to do the same during the night.
Parents should not expect too much from their toddlers because it is just but normal for them to have bedwetting problems until they are four or even five years old.
The bladders of smaller children are not that big so they are not able to hold on to their urine until morning.
Most of them also tend to sleep tightly so their brains are not able to get the signal from their bladders that it is full.
Parents should not expect too soon especially if their toddlers have been potty trained for only for a week or two.
Smaller kids have to get used to their potty training for about six months.
Parents can do some test run after some time to check if their toddlers will already be able to sleep without wetting the bed.
However, if their small kids still have accidental bedwetting a few times a week, they are not yet ready for it.
Parents will have to continue letting them wear diapers or use training pants for some more months.
It is necessary that children are able to overcome the problem at the right time.
Forcing them to stop the bedwetting problem will not solve the issue but may worsen it instead.
Scolding or yelling at the child will not make the bedwetting go away.
Parents have to be patient as it can take them a year or more to work on this problem that their toddlers have to go through as they grow and develop.
Parents may think of some ways how they can alleviate the situation each night.
However, they have to explain it carefully to their toddlers why they have to wake them up at night to go to the bathroom.
They can also help their small kids to go to their potty before bedtime so that they will get used to emptying their bladder before sleeping.
Parents may also have to put anti-leak bed covers before they put bed sheets on top so that they do not have to worry about the mattress being soaked in urine in case their toddlers accidentally wet their beds.
Bedwetting among toddlers may be annoying but parents have to learn how to deal with it properly.
They do not have to take it on the small kids but instead they need to find ways how they can possibly help their toddlers in overcoming it.
