How to Restore Pictures From a Camera
- 1). Purchase or download file recovery software and install it on your desktop or laptop computer. Whether you use a PC computer or a Macintosh computer, there are a number of programs available for this purpose, such as CardRecovery, manufactured by WinRecovery Software, or Recover My Photo's, manufactured by GetData. Both of these programs can be purchased online and you should be able to find these two or others at your local camera or electronics store.
- 2). Insert the memory card from your camera into a card reader connected to your computer, or connect your digital camera directly to your computer. Both your camera and card reader are probably connected by a USB cable, which will give you a quick interface from your computer to your camera or card reader. Wait until your computer recognizes the drive before you attempt to scan the card or camera with the file recovery software.
- 3). Open the recovery software and scan the camera or memory card that is now connected to your computer. Allow the program to scan the entire card or camera. Once the scan is completed, it should open a window with recoverable images for you to review.
- 4). Select the image you deleted from the recoverable images and save it to a new folder on your computer's hard drive.
