How to Mark a Confederate Grave
- 1). Locate the grave of your Confederate ancestor. Consult the cemetery regarding rules and regulations for modifying gravestones, erecting new stones and decorating the grave.
- 2). Erect a permanent or seasonal Confederate flag to mark the grave of your Confederate ancestor.
- 3). Carve a Confederate symbol into the gravestone of your Confederate ancestor. The symbol could be a Confederate flag, a battle scene, Civil War rifles or other icons associated with the Civil War
- 4). Erect a small marker indicating the Civil War service of your Confederate ancestor. The marker could list the ancestor's name, birth and death dates and the unit in which he fought.
