How to Configure an LCD TV
- 1). Connect the TV set to either an HD or other digital antenna, or to a cable/satellite receiver box, then power on the set. Use the best cable connection available, which can range from standard coaxial cable to HDMI.
- 2). Navigate to the "Channel" menu using the remote control. Scroll down with the directional buttons and select the "Channel Scan" option. The TV will now scan the airwaves for all the channels the antenna can pick up and save them onto the TV.
- 3). Adjust the brightness control, which doesn't control the brightness of the whole screen but the black images. Use the arrow buttons on the remote to adjust until the brightness level is near the middle of its indicator, or until the black images appear perfectly black and you see perfect detail with the other dark images. If the brightness is too high, the black will appear gray, and if it's too low, you will lose detail.
- 4). Switch to adjusting the contrast, which controls the white on the screen and the contrast between black and white. Find the right level to where the picture isn't too bright and loses detail (too high) or loses contrast between the bright and dark images (too low). This setting can be a bit higher than the midway point of the contrast level bar.
- 5). Tune the sharpness control, which controls the detail in the picture. Adjust the level so you get crisp, sharp images, but don't turn it up too high. If you set the sharpness too high, the screen can create additional unnecessary details like white borders around objects.
- 6). Set the color control so the colors on the screen are the correct shade and intensity. Adjusting the color level too low will make the screen appear black and white, while adjusting it too high will make the colors too bright and unnatural.
