Ammunition and Bullet Choice

• Strongly constructed bullets are required for elk hunting. Among factory ammunition, choices for elk hunting with the .25-06 include Remington's Core-Lokt Ultra Bonded. Reloaders have a choice of well-constructed bullets, including the Nosler Partition, when loading ammunition for elk hunting.
  
  

Effective Range

• The .25-06 Remington will not deliver the downrange energy of large cartridges, but the primary factor that will limit effective range is accuracy. The .25-06 delivers plenty of energy for elk out past 300 yards if the hunter is capable of making the shot.
