The Best of Réveillon in One of Brazil"s Top Beach Destinations
Nov.22, 2010
Fortaleza, in the Brazilian Northeast, has some of the best New Year's Eve celebrations in Brazil. The city has spread out official celebrations over three hubs - the greatest of which, and the most appealing to tourists, is Iracema Beach, where more than 1,1 million people gathered to ring in 2010. A strong presence of police officers allows for a safe event, which also has become known for its great musical attractions.
This year, the Fortaleza Symphony Orchestra will open the partying on Iracema Beach. Their performance will be followed by shows with Caetano Veloso, one of the greatest Brazilian artists of all time, singer Mart’nália with part of the drum section of the Unidos de Vila Isabel samba school from Rio, and Sao Paulo pop rock band Biquini Cavadão.
The fireworks show is scheduled to last 17 minutes.
There will also be official celebrations at Conjunto Ceará and at Messejana.
One of the best known New Year's Eve parties in Brazil, Réveillon at the Marina Park Hotel is featuring Chiclete com Banana, one of the top bands in Salvador Carnival, in 2011. The partying can start days before New Year's Eve, with exclusive pool bashes for hotel guests, clubbing at Macnish Vibes on Dec.29 and a pre-Réveillon party at the Mucuripe Club.
Several packages are available (starting at about $200), some of them for several parties and some with stays at the hotel. Contact the Marina Park Hotel for more information.
