How to Remove Thinset From the Wall
- 1). Scrape the remaining thinset from the wall using a floor scraper armed with a fresh blade. A floor scraper uses a large razor blade as a cutting edge for removing thinset and other adhesives. Most home improvement stores and tile supply houses sell the tool and blades.
- 2). Place the floor scraper's edge against the surface and apply heavy pressure while holding the scraper as flat against the surface as possible.
- 3). Adjust the pressure and angle as needed to obtain efficient thinset removal. If removing the thinset from drywall, be careful not to allow the tool to dig to deeply into the material, causing damage to the drywall.
- 4). Use the wet/dry vacuum to remove the thinset debris from the work area.
