During pregnancy, women tend to eat just about anything to justify their cravings.
However, pregnancy is also a delicate time for both the mother and the fetus.
Some foods are not allowed during pregnancy simply because they are likely contaminated with microorganisms and chemicals that are dangerous during pregnancy.
Here are some of the foods that women should avoid during pregnancy.
o Eating uncooked fish and meat products should be avoided during pregnancy.
Raw foods are likely to contain dangerous microorganisms like listera and salmonella poisoning.
o Deli meats are also not recommended during pregnancy.

Cook deli meats thoroughly before eating to kill any harmful microorganisms that may be present.
o Raw egg should also be avoided during pregnancy since uncooked eggs are known to contain salmonella.
Some foods which may likely contain raw egg ingredients are; Caesar salad dressing, mayonnaise, homemade ice cream, and custard.
o Unpasteurized dairy products like milk and cheese are also not allowed during pregnancy.
They might contain microorganisms which are dangerous especially for pregnant women.
o Liver products should also be avoided during pregnancy.
Liver is known to be a good source of vitamin A and iron, however; too much vitamin A is dangerous to a developing fetus.
o Limit your fish product intake to two serving per week.
Large fish like shark, sword fish, king mackerel, and tile fish are known to contain dangerous level of mercury which is toxic to pregnant women.
o Drinking alcoholic beverage during pregnancy is dangerous especially to the fetus.
The intoxicating effects of alcohol can affect the fetus which may cause fetal depression.
Alcohol tolerance varies from person to person.
Even the smallest amount may have severe effect to a developing fetus.
So best thing to do is to avoid any alcoholic beverage while pregnant.
Pregnancy is supposed to be a fun and wonderful event for a woman.
