Baby Balm

• Because of its skin-healing properties, users of emu oil say it is a safe and healthy alternative to chemical pastes for a diaper rash remedy. To make the baby balm, prepare an herbal infusion of olive oil, lavender flowers, rose petals, chamomile and calendula petals. Simmer the herbs for four hours. Then mix emu oil, T-50 (Vitamin E) and lavender essential oil. Use a coffee filter to strain the herb and oil mixture into the emollients. Mix with beeswax to form a paste.
  
  

Food

• For those wishing to take emu oil for internal issues, the essential oil is ingestable, and may be used in place of olive oil for many applications from cooking oil to dipping sauce. It may be mixed with dressing herbs in place of olive oil to form vinaigrette salad dressing. Emu oil may also be combined with yogurt, sour cream, cottage cheese or butter.
  
  

Soap

• Those who want to use emu oil to improve their skin may choose to put it into soap. The first soaps were a combination of olive oil and soda ash. Since then, some form of oil or fat has been used in the soap-making process. To make emu oil soap, either mix emu oil with other oils that you plan on using to make soap, or substitute emu oil for the other oils altogether.
