Dare we talk about the state of our kid's rooms? For many of us our children's bedroom resemble that of a "break in".
When in fact it is nothing more than the careless learned behavior of a little person.
Without your intervention you will never see a clean bedroom floor unless you educate your child on the practices of clean and tidy living.
Today we are going to take a look at two ways you can encourage a tidy room 7 days per week.
Getting Drastic If the mess is completely out of control, you may have to take a rather drastic approach.
It really depends as to whether or not you want control of the situation.
If you don't do anything about it, the older your child gets the worse he or she will become.
Find yourself a couple of big bags, containers or some type of storage room with a lock and key.
Allow your child to keep one toy from the room.
Pack everything else up.
The whole lot! All that should remain are the clothes, one toy maybe a few pictures on the wall.
The room must be kept tidy in order to get a toy back.
I would do this every two weeks.
One toy per fortnight.
And only one! Don't give in or cave into the crying or you'll be the one crying when your child is a teenager.
Colored Baskets If you don't think you could handle the drastic approach above.
Which by the way works very well! You can try this instead.
Buy or find 4 different colored baskets or containers.
Sit down with your child and decide what type of toys go in each colored container or box.
This can however get a bit confusing for your child as most kids have several different varieties or categories of toys.
So go for broad categories.
