• If you want to install Windows XP full version, your system must meet certain minimum requirements. Unless these requirements are met, Windows XP will not run properly. For best results when installing the full version of Windows XP, use a system that exceeds Microsoft's recommended minimum installation requirements.
  
  

Processor and RAM

• Before installing Windows XP Home or Professional, you must have a Pentium 233-megahertz processor or faster. Microsoft recommends having at least a 300 MHz processor for best results.
  
  Windows XP will run on systems with 64MB of RAM or memory. However, the recommended amount of RAM is 128MB.
  
  

Drives

• Most hard drives will support Windows XP as long as they have at least 1.5GB of free space. At least 10GB is recommended for storing files and installing applications after installing Windows XP.
  
  You must have a CD or DVD drive in order to install Windows XP. This can be an internal or external drive, but a drive is required in order to use the Windows XP installation disc.
  
  

Video and Sound

• To make the most of Windows XP, your system must have a video and sound card. Microsoft does not have any minimum sound requirements other than a basic sound card. A video adapter and a monitor with an 800x600 resolution or higher is required.
  
  

Other Hardware

• Windows XP requires a keyboard and mouse. If you want to connect a printer, scanner, external drive or other hardware to your Windows XP system, you must install Windows XP drivers. Consult your hardware's manual or visit the manufacturer's website to ensure your hardware is compatible with Windows XP.
