Light Requirements

• Senna plants need regular sunlight throughout the day, although too much direct light can scorch the leaves. Partial to direct sunlight during the primary portion of the day will provide Cassia acutifolia plants with energy.
  
  

Soil Needs

• Senna grows best in loose, well-drained soil with a high content of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Nutrients can be supplemented with fertilizers or composting.
  
  

Pruning

• Although senna plants do not grow to be excessively tall, annual pruning can help control the size of Cassia acutifolia and prevent it from taking up too much space. Trimming the top of the plant and any straggling branches will keep the senna looking neat.
