The Secrets Of Having A Happy Marriage - 5 Tips That Should Help

22
The secrets of having a happy marriage start way before the trip to the altar.
You may meet your future partner anywhere.
Your eyes meet, and love, that tantalizing sprite, decides to light a small fire under your heart.
You go for a coffee together, you talk, then it's dinner, you talk, and both of you decide you've met the person with whom you want to spend the rest of your life.
But how much talking have you really done? Is he liberal or strongly conservative? Is she religious, an atheist, pagan, evangelical? Have you met their friends? If so, how do they seem to be accepted by them? You visit each other's house or flat.
Does it seem normal or are there strange decorations, collections of peculiar objects? So; Tip 1.
Cupid's Fire.
When the little monkey lights his fire under you like that, it's terribly tempting to simply go off the deep end, say to heck with the consequences, this is the one for me.
It's happened to me, and I'm sure to most people.
Thank goodness we didn't act on that first, glorious impression.
He might shower you with presents; chocolates, flowers, jewellery.
She may want you in bed so fast that your head spins.
These may be wonderful in the short term, but they should be warning signs if you're looking for a permanent relationship.
Tip 2.
Take It Slow.
After that first date, both your heads will probably be spinning.
But a courtship that lasts for any time less than 6 months is a risk.
It takes a long time to really know a person and if you feel that after six months, you still don't know them for whatever reason.
Perhaps they've put up barriers, their apartment is so neat, it looks barely lived in.
You still don't know what they do for a living.
This question is always dodged, somehow.
Then's the time to back out.
Tip 3.
How Are Mummy And Daddy?
Are you invited to meet the parents, or is this subject, too, off limits? You see, nothing should be held back.
You should both be prepared to put everything out on the table in plain view.
Tip 4.
Differences.
There are bound to be differences.
No two people can agree a hundred per cent on everything.
It's how you handle these differences that counts.
If you're eventually going to tie the knot, then these differences can be a godsend.
After all, you're joining each other together in marriage and therefore becoming a team.
He may be impetuous, you may be much more circumspect.
Bring these differences out into the open and you can make wonderful foils for each other.
Tip 5.
Problems.
If there are problems in the relationship, bring them out into the open and discuss them like sensible adults.
Again, if your partner has a personal problem, then really listen to them.
A problem shared is a problem halved.
Even just listening sympathetically can do them no end of good.
