MO Camper - I found this campground looking through the Florida State Parks Web site, and it sounded real interesting. I camped there in June 2005.
Campground Review
Water, water everywhere. If you like water sports, this is one of the best. You've got the ocean on one side and the bay on the other. The campgrounds are clean and quiet. Restrooms were likewise clean and well maintained (as were all that we stayed in Florida State Parks).
We had an easy walk to the bay side of the key, and we were able to snorkel right off the shore. The ocean side was a short (2 block) walk, but the water was pristine and cooling. While the weather was hot, we stayed cool by swimming in waters that you could stand in well out 200 yards from the shore in the ocean. Snorkeling rides were available, but we did that at John Pennekamp a few days earlier. The campgrounds did have a mosquito problem, but where in Florida do you not? This is a beautiful place to stay and bask in the sun and to enjoy a dip in the cooling waters.
