Tips on Getting Waves
- Beachy waves make you look carefree and natural. If you would like to get tousled, surfer-girl waves, it just takes using the right products and techniques. When your hair is damp, spray a sea salt hair product onto the hair. This is a commercial product that you can find at a drugstore. Spray it on the ends of the hair, avoiding the roots. Scrunch the hair with your hands and let it air dry.
- To get natural looking waves use a large barrel curling iron. Before doing so, apply a heat protectant spray to the hair. Take two-inch sections of hair and roll them around the curling iron barrel. Alternate the directions that you curl them and curl the left side and then the right side for a natural effect. Spritz the hair with shine spray. Afterwards run your fingers through the waves to loosen them up.
- Make waves look more voluminous by spraying dry shampoo on the roots of the hair before styling it. You can do so even if your hair is not dirty. Dry shampoo soaks up any greasiness and imparts volume. Spray it on the roots only and let it sit for one minute. Comb it through the hair using a round brush and then style.
- Hot rollers are perfect for getting sultry waves. Roll the hair in one-inch sections around each roller and clip into place. Leave them in for at least 10 minutes. Unroll them and run an anti frizz cream through the waves with your fingers. Fluff the waves and mist with hairspray.
