Is your business living up to its green credentials? Are you striving to achieve green credentials? If you think you could you be doing more to help the planet, then read these 10 tips for making your workplace more environmentally friendly...
1) Turn off computers and the power going into them when you leave at the end of the day.
People often leave monitors on standby and waste huge amounts of electricity.
2) Switch lights off whenever you're leaving a room for more than 15 minutes and introduce energy-saving lightbulbs.
3) Think before you print - if you can read or save something digitally, then make that your priority.
Only print what you need to have a hard copy of.
4) Take your own mug to work and ditch the polystyrene and plastic cups.
But only use the water and washing up liquid you need when cleaning them.
5) Use public transport, rather than the car, to get to and from work.
Maybe encourage colleagues to do the same.
If you do need to drive, why not car-pool with other colleagues who live on the way? 6) Use non-toxic cleaning products around the office.
7) If you are printing a document and it's only for internal use, then use the back of scrap paper, as opposed to new paper.
8) Introduce plants to the office - they absorb indoor pollution, as well as making the office look nicer.
9) Recycle paper, fax paper, envelopes, mobile phones, plastic bottles, and waste.
10) Use technology, such as video conferencing software, to have meetings with business colleagues, as opposed to getting in the car and venturing out.
If you are looking to increase the recycling done at your workplace, then why not get some recycling bags or wheelie bins to make it even easier?
