How to Resurface Plastic Windows
- 1). Clean plastic windows with ordinary dish soap, using a coarse sponge. Rinse exterior windows, using a water hose. Use wet rags to rinse interior windows.
- 2). Abrade all plastic portions of the window to stimulate primer adhesion. Scour the window with 220-grit sandpaper until it feels slightly coarse.
- 3). Cover areas running adjacent to the plastic window with painter's tape. Do not cover the window glass. Protect areas beneath the window with drop cloths.
- 4). Coat the sanded plastic windows with acrylic latex primer, using a paintbrush, engineered for use with water-based paints. Wait three hours for the primed plastic to dry.
- 5). Wash the brush with water.
- 6). Coat exterior plastic windows with acrylic latex paint. Use a gloss or semi-gloss latex paint on interior plastic windows. Apply the paint just as you did the primer. Wait two hours for the paint to dry.
- 7). Scrape paint overlap from the window glass, using a razor blade.
