Decorating Ideas for Windows at Christmas (with Pictures)

14

Window Wreath

Rather than placing a single wreath on your front door, place wreaths in each of your windows so they can be seen from inside and outside. String short strands of lights through each wreath if you want to add a bit of an ambient glow as well. This can save you from the trouble of stringing outdoor Christmas lights if you have enough windows on the front of your home. Decorate each wreath with bows, candy canes or even miniature bulb ornaments.

Handpainted Christmas Scene

Add a Christmas scene to each of your windows by hand-painting one if you have artistic ability. Cut sheets of clear plastic film to fit each window, the type used on overhead projectors, and paint a scene on the film with craft paint. Paint scenes such as a family gathered around a tree opening gifts, a decorated hearth or Santa Claus with his elves. For more simple designs, use stencils to paint objects like snowmen, bells or holly. Tape the plastic film over your window once the paint has dried.

Beads and Ornaments

Dress your window like you would your tree to put your favorite ornaments on display. Tie long strands of plastic beads to your curtain rod, allowing them to hang the length of the window. Wrap the wire hooks of Christmas tree ornaments between beads on each strand so you have a long chain of hanging ornaments. Alternate bulbs for other ornaments like snowmen, snowflakes, miniature gifts and Christmas figurines.
