How to Hook a TV to a Laptop
- 1). Plug the USB TV tuner into the USB port on your laptop. Try to use one that has not had any previous driver installations on the port if possible. This is to avoid the possibility of an interrupt request, or IRQ, conflict, which causes driver error.
- 2). Place the TV tuner's driver installation CD into the laptop's CD-ROM drive, then close the disc tray. Once the disk is read, an installation wizard will start automatically. Continue to watch the next set of screens and prompts for they will guide you through the rest of the driver installation process.
- 3). Take the driver CD out of the CD-ROM drive, then place the software installation CD in its place. Once this CD is read, the installation instructions for the software will begin. This software application allows you to actually watch and record your streaming television content. There will be a series of screens that will walk you through the setup process.
- 4). Connect the "Video Out" from the back of your television to the "Video In" on the external TV tuner with the coaxial cable. Once you have made a secure connection, power on your television and open the USB tuner's software program on your laptop. You can do this by either double-clicking on the icon located on your desktop or by clicking "Start," then "All Programs," and selecting it from the list that appears.
- 5). Select the programming that you wish to watch on television and it will appear on the USB tuner's software screen.
