How to Use the Stippling Technique for Shading
- 1). Draw a figure.
- 2). Draw a very faint line that will separate your determined light-source from the areas that are to be shaded.
- 3
Cover the whole area that is to be shaded with dots. The whole area will be light tones, which means that you will be pressing lightly and spacing the dots wide apart. - 4
Draw a faint line that will determine where your figure's darker shadows should be. Where you have determined the darker shadows, add more dots by pressing harder and spacing your dots only slightly apart. - 5
Add your deeper tones. To add even darker tones, press your pencil even harder against your paper and have a barely existent space between your dots.
