How to Be a Confident Writer

18
Once you get into the rhythm of writing short pieces and receive acclaim for them, your confidence is sure to be on the rise.
This is necessary for you as now you can try out different writing styles and genres, e.
g.
sad poems, romantic verses, technical documents, editing, etc.
Once you try out a few genres, you'll figure out just which one you're good at and develop it.
If it is article-writing, again you need to develop suitable writing styles for magazines, newspapers, fillers, etc.
But how do you get into this happy position called 'confidence?' Well, here are some ways: Practice, practice, practice: You can only reach a particular comfort zone by practicing writing magazine or newspaper articles as often as possible.
Remember the proverb, "Practice makes perfect.
" Nowhere is it as true as in the life of a struggling writer.
Practice writing so that you develop the ease of writing well and the craft of writing.
Soon, you will also develop the sensitivity to get under the skin of your characters, if you're telling a story.
Read as much as you can: When you read as much as possible, you expose yourself to as many writing styles as there are.
Consciously or unconsciously, you will use some of these techniques in your own writings for better effect.
When you write, you will have the advantage of all that you have read and so enrich your style of writing.
Write for free: Don't always look for profit in all your writing assignments.
There are times when you should write for free-even this is a mark of a confident writer.
Try it, it works.
Get over your anxiety: Early in your writing career, it's natural to feel inadequate and anxious.
But once you achieve a level of efficiency as a writer, you will overcome it naturally.
And by following a daily regimen of writing daily-whether for practice or profit-your nervousness will vanish forever.
Join a writers' group: By joining a writers' group, you allow your writings to be critiqued by fellow-writers.
Constructive criticism is perhaps the best channel for instilling confidence in you, so why not try it? Once you gain confidence, you can go on to sell your stuff or even start your own blog.
Don't let praise get to your head: While it is good to know that people appreciate your work, don't let it get to your head, because this will make you lazy and arrogant.
If you write on the Net, it's well worth asking your readers for feedback or your clients for testimonials.
Approach every assignment as the first step towards a long-term relationship: If you bring dedication and commitment to each of your assignments, no matter how small, you give yourself the chance of receiving the next assignment by the same client.
So, give each assignment your best shot.
After investing in yourself over some time, you won't feel the nervousness of a newbie writer.
You will exude confidence not just in your writing but in your demeanor and speech too.
