Fear of Speaking in Public - Don"t Allow it to Embarrass You

A lot of individuals express fear of speaking in public-which is quite a major category of phobia when you think about everything that might be considered public speaking.
However if you come to think of it, is it really talking in front of people that they are afraid of or something else? What are these people really frightened of may be something very personal: -Afraid of being criticized -Afraid of not being appreciated -Afraid of being dull and nonsense speaker -Afraid of being considered a mediocre -Afraid of committing errors -Uncomfortable being the center of attention Public speaking is said to be a place for criticism, and much of what individuals are really afraid of is their weaknesses will be exposed.
Are you one of them? If so, then continue to contemplate on these questions.
In your own opinion, how many of the phobias listed above are based on reality? How many of these cases occurred to you? Which one do you think can easily be eliminated if you prepared, practiced and coming out from the expectations of perfection? Your listeners are expecting you to be successful in your performance.
They will not waste their time sitting and just listen to nonsense things.
They do not give much importance if you spoil the event.
Even if you commit errors, all of them can relate.
They understand that all of you are human and are susceptible in committing mistakes.
It will be more acceptable if the speaker is humble and accepts his imperfections than to relate to someone who is a perfectionist.
Try to be in the shoes of the audience for a few seconds.
Did you ever wish that the speaker will mess up? Of course not! Your listeners are expecting to learn from your message.
They want something interesting from you.
They believe that you are a highly skilled individual who is going to impart your knowledge to them.
They do not have any idea how stressed and worried you are about the matter.
Everyone is expecting you to perform at your best potential.
As a speaker, you have to be like a teacher giving them informative message to your audience.
You should be distinct in how you convey the message to them.
Be confident in whatever you do in front of them because this is how they expect you to be.
You can not assume what your listeners are thinking the moment you are talking in front of them.
You can not expect that everyone will be very attentive in listening to you once you speak.
They have a lot of things going on in their minds and that is what you have to accept.
Do not assume that they can focus on everything you say to them.
Even if you are the best speaker in town, not everyone in the crowd will spare you their time and lend you their ears.
They might be looking at you but their minds are wandering.
Now that you are aware these points, try to keep them in mind so you will be able to overcome your fear of speaking in public.
Once you have successfully done this you will notice the drastic change within you.
