How to Get Rid of Cat Feces Odor in a House

12
    • 1). Use a multicat, clumping cat litter, even if you have only one cat. This type of cat litter is usually the best at controlling odors and allowing you more easily to keep the litter box clean.

    • 2). Scoop out any clumped litter and feces from the litter box on a daily basis. If you remove the feces right away, strong smells are less likely to come from the litter box.

    • 3). Mix a cup of baking soda into the cat litter. This will do wonders for keeping odors at bay.

    • 4). Change the cat litter completely at least once a week. Dispose of all the cat litter, and then wash the litter box thoroughly with soap and hot water. Rinse, spray with a bleach and water mixture, let it sit, and then rinse well. Add clean litter and baking soda.

    • 5). Use a pet stain/odor remover on carpeting or other surfaces that have a cat feces odor. You can also use a vinegar and water solution to remove odors if you don't want to purchase the commercial spray. Unfortunately, badly soiled carpeting may never lose the odor until it's replaced, because the foul smells may actually reside in the padding beneath the carpet.
