How to Find the Keyless Entry for a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina After the Battery Discharges
- 1). Locate the "programming connector" in the right-hand side of the trunk of your '97 Lumina. You may have to lower the lining in order to spot it. It's a black-and-white wire feeding into a small piece with a metal terminal sticking out of it.
- 2). Rig the programming connector so the terminal is grounding on an unpainted piece of metal connected to the car frame, for example a bolt or the trunk latch. The terminal needs to stay in contact with the metal for the entire programming phase. You can hold it in place with electrical tape, if it won't stay put on its own. You should hear the car's computer lock and unlock the power locks to confirm that you've entered the programming mode.
- 3). Hold the "Lock" and "Unlock" button of the first remote you are programming in, until you hear the locks cycle again. This will take about 15 seconds.
- 4). Repeat Step 3 for all remaining remotes. Make sure you hear the locks cycle each time.
- 5). Unground the programming connector to exit the programming mode.
