How to Cook Eggs to Order
- 1). Cook an egg sunny side up. Heat a pan over low to medium and coat the pan with nonstick cooking spray. Crack an egg gently into pan. Sunny side up doesn't require flipping the egg. Cook the egg for about 3 minutes, or until the egg whites are done, but the yolks are still runny. Be gentle when removing the egg.
- 2). Prepare an over-easy egg. Heat a pan over low to medium and coat the pan with nonstick cooking spray. Crack an egg gently into pan. Cook for 2 minutes on one side, and then flip the egg to cook it for 1 minute on the other side, or until the whites are fully cooked and the yolk has a film over it on both sides.
- 3). Cook and egg over-medium. Heat a pan over low to medium and coat the pan with nonstick cooking spray. Crack an egg gently into pan. Cook for about 4 minutes, 2 minutes on each side. Eggs cooked over medium are done when the outside of the yolk is slightly cooked. The yolk is still runny inside, but the whites are firm.
- 4). Cook an egg over medium-well. Heat a pan over low to medium and coat the pan with nonstick cooking spray. Crack an egg gently into pan. Cook for about 5 minutes, flipping the egg over halfway through cooking. Eggs cooked over medium well are done when the yolk is almost fully cooked, but is still a bit runny.
- 5). Cook an egg over-well. Heat a pan over low to medium and coat the pan with nonstick cooking spray. Crack an egg gently into pan. Cook for about 6 minutes, flipping the egg over halfway through cooking. Eggs cooked over well are done when the yolk is fully cooked.
- 6). Cook an egg over hard. Heat a pan over low to medium and coat the pan with nonstick cooking spray. Crack an egg gently into pan and break the yolk. Cook for about 6 minutes, flipping the egg over halfway through cooking. Eggs cooked over well are done when the broken yolk is fully cooked.
