How to Do Chibi Neko Drawings
- 1). Select a sharp graphite pencil and a piece of drawing paper.
- 2). Draw a wide oval or circle to represent the character's head. Add spiky hair to the top of the head for a boy or a set of long, flowing pigtails for a girl. Draw two triangular-shaped ears on the top side of the head. These ears should look like cat's ears. Add two large vertical half-circles for eyes and a thin, vertical line for a mouth.
- 3). Draw two vertical lines down from under the head. Place these lines about 1/4 from the edge of the sides of the head. Extend the lines so they are two times the width of the head. These lines will be the body of your character. Adjust the lines to create an hourglass curve if your character is a girl.
- 4). Draw another vertical line between these two lines from their base up about 1/2 their length. This line divides the legs. Add a couple of small, pointed ovals at the base of the two three vertical lines to create the character's feet. You can leave them as just ovals to create the look of shoes.
- 5). Add a couple of vertical lines just outside the two original vertical lines that curve inward about halfway down the length of the original lines to touch them. This step creates the impression of arms that are held behind the character's back. Draw a long, thin tail curving out from behind the character. Place this tail about halfway down the length of the body.
- 6). Add details and shading with your pencil. These additions can be clothing, eyebrows, a nose and other features. Erase unwanted lines with a pencil as you go along.
