How to Paint on Concrete for a Playground
- 1). Repair any cracks or holes with a concrete patch. Allow the patch to set for 24 hours prior to any other preparation work.
- 2). Clean the concrete thoroughly with a hard-bristle shop broom and a garden hose. Scrub the concrete with the broom to remove any loose debris. Rinse the concrete thoroughly to remove all dust and small particles. Allow the concrete to dry completely.
- 3). Pour concrete primer paint into a paint pan. Dip a paint roller into the pan and roll an even coat of primer over the concrete. Allow the primer to dry before painting with the finish colors.
- 4). Draw designs of your choice onto the concrete with concrete chalk. This gives you outlines if you wish to have colorful designs or put down permanent games like hopscotch.
- 5). Open up the cans of paint and stir each one thoroughly with a paint stick. Pour the paint into individual cans for brushing or into a paint roller pan if using rollers.
- 6). Paint the concrete in the colors of your choice. Use a brush or a roller to apply the paint to the concrete. Allow the paint to dry completely. If using a roller, work slowly so that you fill in all dimples of the concrete with paint.
- 7). Apply several coats of concrete sealer over the painted concrete to protect the paint.
