How do I Replace Seat Covers for 1997 Crest Sport Pontoon?
- 1). Open the bench portion of the seat to expose the interior storage compartment. Remove all of the objects from the interior and locate the two bolts that connect the seat to the deck. Use a socket wrench to remove the bolts. Visually scan the seat for any additional connections. Lift the seat to remove the entire bench from the deck.
- 2). Locate the staples on the back and bottom of the seat. Use a staple remover to release the old fabric. Use pliers and a razor to assist with any stubborn materials but avoid contact with the seat cushions. The cushions will be re-used unless there is significant damage.
- 3). Measure the bench section of the seat and the back section of the seat as separate pieces. Add two feet to each dimension and select a new piece of marine grade vinyl or leather to match each measurement.
- 4). Apply a thin layer of upholstery glue to the seat cushions. Place the new material over the bench. Align the material to prevent any patterns from appearing crooked. Pull one edge of the material under the bench and use an upholstery grade staple gun to connect the edge to the bottom of the bench.
- 5). Pull the opposite edge of the material tight and staple it to the bottom of the bench. Repeat the process for each edge and each bench and seat back. Use a razor to trim away the excess material. Replace the bench.
