How to Obtain Amp Readings on a Keithley Multimeter
- 1). Plug one probe into the "Amp" terminal on the multimeter. Plug the other probe into the terminal just above the Amp terminal. To measure current, the probes must be plugged in to the front terminals, and the switch must be set to use the front terminals.
- 2). Press the function key for the reading you want to take. Press "F3" for direct current amperage. Press "F4" for alternating current amperage.
- 3). Touch the leads to two appropriate points on the circuit. For example, if you're testing the amps on a DC circuit, touch one lead to the positive side of the battery and the other lead to the negative side while the circuit is under load. Read the amps on the multimeter screen.
