How to Place a Doorstop
- 1). Use a screwdriver to remove the top pin from the door hinge. Make sure the door is closed tightly before taking out the pin.
- 2). Place the doorstop on the pin at the top. Use a hammer to put the pin back in the door hinge.
- 3). Repeat these steps to place a hinge doorstop on the bottom hinge as well as the top if you are using the doorstops on a heavy door.
- 1). Find the sweep of the door, and make a small pencil mark. You should be in from the side edge of the door by 1 1/2 inches and up 1 1/2 inches from the bottom of the door. Attach the doorstop to the baseboard and not the drywall.
- 2). Drill a hole in the baseboard.
- 3). Wind in the doorstop until it is tight on the wall.
- 1). Measure for the doorstop 1 1/2 inches in from the door edge and far enough from the wall to stop the doorknob from hitting the wall.
- 2). Drill a pilot hole in the floor.
- 3). Wind the floor-mount doorstop into the pilot hole. End with the rubber doorstop facing the door.
