How to Bridge an Amp to Two Woofers
- 1). Disconnect the vehicle battery's negative terminal by unscrewing it with a monkey wrench if you are working on a car's amp. This can prevent a short circuit and electrocution.
- 2). Measure out two adequate lengths of speaker wire and cut them. These two strands will need to reach from your amplifier to your woofers.
- 3). Strip the insulation off both ends of each speaker wire strand with the wire cutters to unveil the copper wiring. This copper wiring connects to the amplifier or the terminal on the woofer. It is what transfers the power from the amplifier to the woofers.
- 4). Bridge channels one and two by connecting the positive strand of one length of speaker wire to the positive terminal of channel one and connecting the negative strand of the same speaker wire to the negative terminal of channel two.
- 5). Bridge channels three and four by connecting the positive strand of the other length of speaker wire to the positive terminal of channel three and connecting the negative strand of the same speaker wire to the negative terminal of channel four.
- 6). Crimp a spade connector over the copper wiring on the other end of each speaker wire. The spade connector will lock the speaker wire onto the woofer's terminal.
- 7). Slide the spade connector of one length of speaker wire onto the terminal of one subwoofer. Connect the remaining strand of speaker wire to the remaining woofer.
