How do I Troubleshoot the Optium Glucose Meter?

10
    • 1). Replace the batteries. Dead batteries won't be able to turn the device on, causing a blank screen. Weak batteries may result in the device powering off on its own or displaying faded characters on the screen. Make sure the batteries are put in correctly, so that the positive end touches the positive side in each battery port.

    • 2). Use a different test strip. Test strips may be defective or become damaged if stored incorrectly. A defective or damaged test strip may cause an error or an incorrect, inconsistent reading.

    • 3). Use a larger sample of blood on the test strip. If you place too little blood on the test strip, the Optium glucose meter may not be able to test it properly, resulting in an error.

    • 4). Make sure that the test strip is inserted into the Optium meter facing the correct direction, and that it is pressed all the way in. The end of the strip that appears to have a small electronics chip should slide into the meter facing downward. The test strip should be pressed into the device until it no longer moves to ensure that it is pressed in all the way.

    • 5). Replace the meter if troubleshooting the device doesn't fix the problem. Consult with the pharmacy or store you purchased it from about any warranties the device may have and information on getting the device replaced.
