How to Prepare Fresh Cantaloupe Seeds for Planting
- 1). Slice a ripe cantaloupe melon in half and scoop the seeds and the gel-like substance around them into a bowl. Prepare the fruit for eating or serving as desired.
- 2). Set the bowl of seeds on a counter at room temperature for two days. Stir once a day.
- 3). Scoop of the remainder of the gel and immature seeds from the top of the bowl and discard. Keep the mature seeds that sink to the bottom of the bowl.
- 4). Spread the seeds on a drying rack for one to two weeks. Plant the seeds immediately or place the seeds in a airtight container and store in a cool dark place until you are ready to plant them.
