How to Hunt and Trap Weasels
- 1). Drill a 2-inch diameter hole in one side of a wooden box that is 12 inches long by 6 inches wide and 6 inches high. If possible, use a box that does not have a top on it.
- 2). Locate areas likely to have weasels. The animals often are near streams and in areas in close proximity that have tall grass. In farm settings, focus on problem areas, like around chicken coops.
- 3). Hammer a nail into the inside of the box, straight across the from hole. It should be about halfway up the wall of the box.
- 4). Place bloody meat onto the nail. Any type of meat works.
- 5). Set a small leg-hold trap -- sizes 0 and 1 are good -- in the box, under the bait. When the weasel goes for the meat, you want it to step on the trap.
- 6). Check for trapped weasels at least once per day.
- 1). Load cartridges into a .22-caliber rifle.
- 2). Walk slowly through roadside ditches that are near water or around the edges of ponds and swamps that have brush and grass. If weasels are killing poultry, walk through any brush and grass in the immediate area.
- 3). Focus on the ground as you walk, watching for weasels moving away from you. Walk toward an open area, if possible, for a clear shot.
- 4). Aim at the front of the weasel's body, where its vital organs are located.
