How to Clean Hunting & Fishing Equipment
- 1). Allow clothing, shoes, and other materials with mud to dry and then clean with a brush. Allowing the dirt or mud to dry will be much more effective than attempting to remove when wet.
- 2). Use a wet cloth to remove stains. In many cases plain water will do the job, however, it may be necessary to also use mild soap. If the stain still persists try using a mild cleanser.
- 3). For special fabrics such a Gore Tex it may be necessary to use a manufacturer recommended cleaner and treatment. Follow directions carefully.
- 4). Outdoor gear such as guns, reels, and other finished metals will require a thorough wiping down with a cloth and multi purpose oil. Make sure all finger prints and moisture are removed from metal surfaces.
- 5). Any gear which has been used around or has come into contact with salt water must be thoroughly cleaned. The salt is very corrosive and will quickly damage a variety of gear and must be cleaned as soon as possible after use.
