How to Build a Portable Deer Blind
- 1). Locate five long wooden branches. Each branch should be at least five feet long and no more than two to three inches thick. If possible, avoid using rotting branches or living wood, instead favoring seasoned wood.
- 2). Pare down the branches into five-foot poles using a wood saw. Make a clean flat cut on one end of the pole with the saw and sharpen the other into a point with a knife.
- 3). Carry the poles to your desired blind location. Drive the pointed ends into the ground by hammering against the flat ends with a rubber mallet. Position the poles equally apart from each other in a circle approximately five feet in diameter.
- 4). Drape camouflage netting around the poles to enclose your position. Cut small shooting windows in the netting with your knife between each pair of poles.
- 5). Transport your deer blind by rolling the netting and carrying the five poles in a firewood carrier. Place the rolled netting atop the poles, with your rubber mallet in between.
