Jeep Grand Cherokee Front Bumper Replacement Instructions
- Park your vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake. Raise a jack or jack stands beneath the bumper to support it once it has been dislodged from the vehicle. Do not lift or apply pressure on the bumper with the jack. Place the new bumper nearby and grab a wrench.
- Unscrew the front license plate and set aside. Remove the bumper guards by unscrewing the single screw located at the bottom of each. Each screw is very long and goes through the guards and actual bumper itself. Now you can unscrew and remove the side bumper extensions that cap the bumper on each side. A single bolt holds them in place. The bolt is located on the inside of the extension, at the top, and can be a little hard to reach. Simply tilt the bumper up--it can now be popped off the mounting brackets that hold it on the vehicle. Allow it to rest on the jack or jack stands that you have placed there.
- To install the new bumper, just do the same process but in reverse order. Snap the new bumper onto the mounting brackets by first connecting the bottom then the top. Use a level to make sure it is on straight. Cap each side with the extensions and tighten the screws. Now screw each bumper guard into the new bumper. Replace the license back into the center of the bumper and tighten all screws. Lower the jack and you are done.
