Offering rugged outdoor campgrounds for the true adventurer, or amenity-stocked cabins for families, central California has a campsite for everyone. - Sequoia National Park Area, also known as California central coast's bear country, provides numerous campgrounds among the foothills, at the Conifer Forest and in Kings Canyon. Potwisha Campground, located in the foothills on the Middle Fork of the Kaweah River, offers 42 campsites on a first-come first-serve basis. Each site provides one bear-resistant food storage box for its patrons, as well as flush toilets onsite. Some of the outdoor activities include hiking, biking, and fishing. During the summer, the park offers ranger-led walks and talks for the entire family.

In addition, showers are also available for a small fee. Campers who enjoy fishing can cast their line in the private lagoon and relax all day as they try to reel in the big fish. If guests wish for more active recreational activities they can visit the Oceano Memorial Park, which is located near the campground. There they can enjoy picnic facilities, a children's playground, horseshoe pits and a basketball court.

Tent campsites, which range anywhere from $35 to $50, usually include a fire pit and picnic table. In addition, a local bath house with hot showers is available. The cabins provide comfortable accommodations ranging from one-bedroom units to two-bedroom cabins with kitchen, fireplace and a private bathroom. Activities that can be enjoyed by campers include swimming or tubing in the river, nature watching through the majestic redwoods, or playing volleyball and basketball on the playground.
