Solar Mole Repellents

A basic solar mole repellent will consist of a stake, a jack, and a battery. It works by using the sun to charge a battery. Once assembled, the repellent will produce a high pitched sound or vibration in the ground every 30 seconds. The sound doesnt bother household pets, just unwanted rodents. The assembled stake is then inserted into the ground. Each repellent will cover about 7,500 square feet.

Installing Solar Mole Repellents

When installing the repellents to rid your yard of rodents, you will want to find sunny spots so that the repellent will be able to charge easily. The battery is long lasting and most batteries can store enough energy to repel rodents for several days without recharging. Grass and other plants around the stakes will need to be kept trimmed to prevent overgrowth that can cause shadows and interfere with the solar charging.

It is recommended that you dig a hole to insert the stakes if any of the following are present in the area they will be used in:

- Roots
- Rocks
- Hard clay like soil

Soaking the area will make it easier to install the stakes or digging a hole for the stakes. You will want the stakes to be low enough that a lawnmower can easily clear it if you are installing it where there is grass.

Lifespan of Solar Mole Repellents

A solar mole repellent can last up to a year and a half. Some last longer in mild environments and when they are removed during harsh winters. The internal Ni-MH battery, when fully charged will store enough energy to power the repellent for about two days without needing to be recharged. It will run throughout the night on the stored energy. After removal of the stakes, it may take rodents up to three weeks to return.

There are many online sources for solar mole repellents, so you will want to take your time and do some research on types of solar mole repellents, material options, prices, and guarantees.
