How to Make a Rope Snare Trap
- 1). Bend the rope 12 inches from the end and tie a square knot that is 12 inches away from the bend. Tie a second square knot around the first. Tighten the loop by holding on to the knot and pulling the end of the string outside of the knot until you have a circle that is 3 inches in diameter.
- 2). Tie the other end of the rope that is opposite the end with the loop around a branch that is 20 inches above the ground and 20 inches away from the tree. Use two square-knots.
- 3). Wedge your branch or log against the tree so the loop in the snare is 1-inch above the center of the slanted branch. When small game are startled and run up the tree they will get caught in the snare.
