Are You Tired and Listless Even Though You Do Lots of Exercise? Maybe You Are Doing Too Much

A little exercise is good.
A little more exercise is even better.
But too much exercise can be bad for you.
Unfortunately, the bad effects of over-exercise may creep up on you only gradually, over a period of months.
They may be so stealthy that you do not even recognize them.
Or, at the very least, you do not associate them with your vigorous work-out regimen.
So here are some of the signs that suggest you may -- repeat, may -- be doing too much exercise.
But these are all symptoms that could arise from some other -- quite different -- problem.
So consult a doctor if the symptoms persist.
But be aware that if you are found to have been training too hard, then it may not be enough just to slow down.
A lengthy period of rest may be necessary.
Most of the likely symptoms of over-training will be physical.
They may include some fairly obvious signs, such as changes in your weight, continuing muscle stiffness or pain or an elevated heart rate.
However, over-exercise can also lead to such problems as diarrhea, changes in your blood pressure, cuts and injuries that take a long time to heal and even upper respiratory infections.
Some symptoms may be more psychological, or behavioural, than physical.
Thus you may find yourself having trouble concentrating or sleeping.
You may get easily irritated, you may be lethargic and you may even start suffering from some form of depression.
Worst of all (for some people), your sex drive may diminish.
So be warned.
Regular exercise is important.
But take it easy.
Rest often.
Listen to your body.
Too much exercise can be dangerous.
