Finding Peace part 2
It is often said that peace is a covenant between two parties -an ending to all hostilities.
When the Lord Jesus Christ came he wrote a new covenant in His blood, to establish peace through the Cross.
For the believer it is a marvelous offer.
To know such peace is to have a renewed conscience not wrought with condemnation but joy and hope in the power of the Holy Spirit.
The unbeliever is not blessed with such a conscience.
Their conscience is dead and insensitive and will one day be awakened with this truth; that they are children of wrath and shall never know peace.
Scripture says " But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
There is no peace, says my God for the wicked" Isaiah 57: 20-21.
The child of God on the other hand has a treasure kept closely guarded.
The Lord causes his child to hold on to it as a gift of His grace.
Scripture says" I have seen his ways and will heal him; and restore comforts to him and to his mourners.
I create the fruit of the lips: Peace, peace to him who is far off and to him who is near, and I will heal him" Isaiah 57: 18-19.
Let me say that this peace will one day reveal itself in its fullness.
Many times the child of God finds that sin troubles this peace.
It mourns and grieves over the fact that this peace is not always there - and the loss of it is greatly missed.
Even in prayers of repentance the child of God sometimes does not feel the assurance of peace with God.
Nevertheless the soul continues to cry out till hope fills the heart once again.
There is no greater need than to experience this peace.
Freedom is only limited in its offer.
It is well known that a prisoner might leave his confinement and yet still remain a prisoner wherever he goes.
True peace is a gift from God - that makes the captive free.
The excellent gift of this grace, is sufficient to stir up the believer to strive for an increased sense of its awareness.
The child of God cannot live apart form it and remains impoverished without it.
It needs peace to strengthen the heart that it may continue to have fellowship with God.
Do you need peace today? Are you searching for this gift?Then let there be frequent prayer that the Spirit of God would testify with your spirit, seal you, and cause you to experience the power and the sweetness of this grace.
