The Atomic Bombing of Japan

17
On 6 August 1945 a United States Air Force plane dropped an Atomic Bomb over the city Of Hiroshima.
The plane a long range heavy bomber often referred to as the 'Stratofortress' dropped the bomb on a preplanned target that had been specifically saved for testing the effects of the Atomic Bomb.
It was a gruesome experiment.
We can now examine whether the dropping of the Nuclear bombs was not a form of racial discrimination against the Asian populace.
Would they have done the same in Europe? The situation at the turn of 1944 was clear cut.
Germany and the Japanese Imperial Army had lost the war.
Heavy bombing from the air was taking its toll and it was only a matter of time before they surrendered...
However one point needs to be high lighted.
At the time the war was proceeding the Allies never had any plans for an Atomic bombing of Germany, but they certainly had formulated plans for an atomic bombing of Japan.
Thus when the United States Air Force was carrying out a massive fire bombing of Japanese cities, the cities of Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Kyoto were left out.
The aim was to keep these cities as a sort of guinea pig for testing the efficacy of the Nuclear bombs.
Thus the targets committee had weeks and months earlier already decided to test the bombs on Japan and President Truman had agreed with it.
It was forgotten that the Imperial army was close to surrender and all Japan was looking for, was a face saving way to end the war.
The debate can be endless.
But the fact remains that no such plans had been presented for an nuclear bombing of Germany.
Thus the selection of Japan as a testing ground for the effects of the bombs may indeed point to a fact that the Asian people were discriminated by the allies.
History records that the United States, making use of the Potsdam declaration inflicted on Japan an Nuclear blast that could have very well been avoided.
Also it is a moot point whether the UK and the USA would have allowed an Atomic bombing of any city in Europe.
But no such consideration prevailed in the east and the United States was able to get away with a bombing of Japan on the plea that it was needed to end the war expeditiously.
But is this true?
