How to Bolt Equipment to a Concrete Floor

32
  • 1). Place the item you want to secure on the floor in the position that you have chosen for it. Use the marker to mark the location of the bolt holes. If, for example, you are installing a safe, you will find predrilled bolt holes on the inside of the safe.

  • 2). Set the item aside and put on your safety glasses and dust mask. It is important that you protect yourself not only from chips of concrete flying up and hitting you but also from the dust that will be created when you drill.

  • 3). Put the masonry bit into the drill and rest it on the center of the spot that you made with the marker. Drill a hole in the concrete that is as long as the masonry anchor that you are using. Repeat this process until you have drilled a hole on each of the marks that you made.

  • 4). Brush away any dust and debris from the area before moving the item that you are bolting to the floor back into position. Make sure that the bolt holes are lined up with the holes that you have drilled.

  • 5). Drop a masonry anchor into the first hole and hit it several times with the hammer until it is all the way in. Use the pliers to turn the nut on top of the anchor until it can go no further. This process expands the bottom of the bolt into the concrete, securing it into place.

  • 6). Repeat the process until an anchor has been dropped and secured into each hole that you drilled.
