Build Muscle - The Incredible Hulk Is Staring at Me?

22
Who doesn't want to be fit and awesome? Well, almost everybody and more often than not people will not pay the price to look how they want to look.
I am a 33 year guy and have lived the fitness lifestyle as far back as I can remember.
When I young, I watch the TV show the incredible Hulk, and movies like Conan the Barbarian.
Those images shaped my life and created a model in my mind that men need to be big, so I learned how to build muscle.
There are lots myths when it comes to building muscle and the biggest one is that you have to live at the gym.
Not true.
You need to workout just enough to stimulate what is called, protein synthesis.
This is a trigger that tells your body "hey, repair that muscle".
You see, building muscle is something that happens when you are not working out.
When working out, simply create enough "trauma" to the muscle you want to grow by lifting weights to a state of failure.
Failure is when you can lift it anymore.
The ideal rep range is 6-8 reps.
Studies show this is the range to trigger protein synthesis.
Building muscle requires two main points.
1.
Stimulate - workouts that trigger protein synthesis 2.
Repair - Nutrition and hormones that support the building of muscle.
Nutrition is extremely important.
I think this is the missing link for most people.
The building blocks of muscle is protein.
The goal is consume enough protein to get in a positive nitrogen balance.
This is achieved by eating every three hours and consuming 30-60 grams of protein per meal.
That can be hard to do.
I recommend people drink protein shakes to support their diet.
Building muscle is hard and most will never see the Incredible Hulk staring back in mirror, but stick with it and you can do well.
Happy lifting!
