The Steps to Replace a Pull-Out Kitchen Spray Assembly
- 1). Open the kitchen cabinets below the sink to arrange folded towels for padding on the cabinet edge.
- 2). Turn over on your back and ease into the cabinet while holding a flashlight to locate the diverter pipe where it connects to the old spray hose. This will typically be on your left as you look up from below the sink.
- 3). Place a bucket under the diverter pipe before unscrewing the threaded connector on the end of the spray hose, using pliers. Catch the water in the bucket from the pipe, then lower the disconnected end of the sprayer hose to drain any remaining water inside.
- 4). Pull out the sprayer and hose from the mounting hole in the top of the sink.
- 5). Insert the end of the new sprayer hose into the mounting hole from the top of the sink. Thread the hose into the cabinet until the sprayer rests on the mounting hole.
- 6). Wipe the threads on the end of the diverter pipe with an old towel until dry and relatively clean.
- 7). Wrap Teflon tape around the threads on the diverter pipe. Cut the end of the tape roll with a scissor.
- 8). Twist the coupler on the end of the new sprayer hose onto the tape-wrapped diverter pipe by hand until tight. Ask a helper to turn on the water faucet on the sink above you.
- 9). Tighten the hose connection with pliers to stop any water leaks.
