Saratoga National Golf Club, Saratoga Springs
Saratoga National Golf Club, Saratoga Springs, is a high-end public golf course ranked by Golf Digest as one of America’s Best 100 Public Golf Courses for the 2007/2008 Season. A par 72 championship layout that is described as "a mix of styles." Hummm, I have to wonder what that means. The layout is set upon a one-time horse farm, which means it's generally flat and open - a parkland course, perhaps?
- The fairways undulating, often with some elevation to the fairways, and they thread their way through vast areas of natural wetland, which means water is a large part of the play at Saratoga National Golf Club, and water always means forced carries and you'll be faced with them on 16 of the 18 holes. It can be a tough course, but the architect has kept us mere mortals in mind by providing five sets of tees to accommodate all levels of skill. It's expensive, but if you're in Saratoga, it's well worth a visit.
Designed by Roger G. Rulewich, the 18-hole Saratoga National golf course plays 7,265 yards from the Black tees for a par of 72, a course rating of 75.7 and a slope rating of 147. It first opened for play in 2001.
