How to Create a Startup Disk for Windows 98
- 1). Insert your blank floppy disk into your floppy disk drive.
- 2). Place your Windows 98 disc into your CD/DVD drive.
- 3). Click the "Start" button.
- 4). Click "Control Panel" to open the window of that name.
- 5). Click "Add/Remove Programs" to open the window of that name.
- 6). Click the "Startup Disk" tab.
- 7). Click the "Create Disk" button.
- 8). Follow the instructions given to create your boot disk. After Step 7, you are prompted to insert a blank disk into your computer's drive. If your disk is not already formatted, the computer will take action and automatically complete the process. At this point, the computer will start writing the boot disk. This can take from a few minutes up to an hour, depending on the computer's processor speed. If your disk does not have the storage capacity required to complete the action, the computer will prompt you, after the first disk is full, to insert another disk to finish the process. When the boot disk is complete, the drive will eject, and notification will appear in the on-screen message box that creation was successful and you should remove the disk from the drive.
