A New Start - Japan Earthquake
A New Start - Japan Earthquake
The Japanese school year starts in April. Therefore, it is the season to meet new friends and teachers. Because of the earthquake and tsunami on March 11th, many schools in the affected area are having a hard time opening for the new school year. There are some schools that are so badly damaged that they can no longer be used. Other schools were required to become temporary hospitals or shelters.
At those schools, the children will have to share the space with people in need of shelter or medical attention. Also, many of the school grounds are being set aside for future temporary housing. However, many schools are trying to re-open sometime within April. I think it will be beneficial for the children to be with friends and to return to a normal routine as soon as possible.
